Bookings are now open for the Christmas holidays!

Due to the high demand for accommodation over the Christmas school holiday period, current serving members and members of Bulwarra Co-op are given priority and may make bookings up to 12 months in advance from 1 February each year. Mid – year, bookings are opened up more widely.

Bookings are now open for all guests to reserve accommodation for the Christmas school holiday period. As the weather improves, we remain confident of a busy and fun-filled high season. There are a limited number of units still available. So, if you are thinking of enjoying Bulwarra over high season, don’t be disappointed. Get in quickly and book now!

Better facilities

The last two years have seen a significant investment at Bulwarra. As a result we completed major renovation to all bathrooms in the main block, which included some re-painting in the apartments, upgrades to kitchen plumbing and changes to some internal lighting. The WiFi system has been upgraded so you can enjoy connectivity in all apartments, around the pool and even up at the BBQ. Smart TVs have been installed in all units.

The pools have been refurbished and re-painted, with ongoing repairs to the grates surrounding the pool to be completed in the next few weeks. Development of an old house site on Ena Street (below the clothes lines) has provided us a new 50 metre Colorbond steel fence to replace the old timber one. The BBQ area has been modernised with a new sloping roof and improved lighting. Trebetha’s streetscape has been improved with the replacement of the picket fencing and erection of a privacy fence to match.

Behind the scenes, we have better storage for hazardous materials in place and more efficient storage of apartment and linen supplies – to make the cleaners’ job more efficient.

Improved security

Across the site itself, physical security at Trebetha and Minibul has been improved, CCTV cameras have been installed (replacing the fake ones that have been installed for some years). The fire monitoring and alarm systems are compliant with NSW laws and are regularly monitored to ensure your safety.

The Board is committed to ensuring that Bulwarra remains a safe and secure environment for all guests. The boundary fence on the beach side is scheduled for replacement and serious consideration is being given to installing more secure fencing along that perimeter with an electronic vehicle access gate.

Rates

Rack Rates are reviewed annually and are set by the Board of Directors. They are published on the Bulwarra website.

At the last Board Meeting the Rates were increased across the board, but only by CPI, to reflect our increased costs. The rates are still highly competitive. The new rates will apply for new bookings made from 1 September 2024, so get in and book before that date to make a saving on your rates. As has always been the case, special offers will continue to be made available to Registered Guests from time to time. By arrangement with the Manager, all sorts of gatherings and large bookings can be made at very competitive prices.

Special Defence Rate

A reminder, all current serving or former members of the Australian Defence Force and current members of the Commonwealth Public Service employed within the Department of Defence can register as a Registered Defence Member. Registered Defence Members can book accommodation at Bulwarra Seaside Apartments Terrigal at the special Defence Rate, a rate that is further reduced from the already competitive non-registered accommodation rate that would otherwise apply.

Registered Defence Members may book accommodation for family members and other invited guests, but they remain  responsible for the booking and for the conduct of their guest(s). The Registered Defence Member is not required to accompany family members during their stay. However, to be entitled to the Defence Rate, invited guests, other than family members, must be accompanied for the duration of their stay by the Registered Defence Member in whose name the booking is made.

How to register

If you are eligible, registration is very worthwhile and very easy. To become a Registered Defence Member, the eligible person need simply either complete the eligibility form on the website, or download the form and submit it to Kate (either email to [email protected] or hand it in at reception).

If you are already a Registered Guest, and your personal/contact details have changed,
please use the same form to update them.

Things to do!

Even in winter, there’s plenty to do at Bulwarra!

Watch the whales.
Our recent Autumn and Winter guests enjoyed viewing the humpback whales travelling north.  Come and stay between September and November to watch them travelling south with a few calves in tow. After their “holiday in the north”, whales heading south often frolic and breach in the bay directly in front of Bulwarra. Don’t miss this experience! Whale watching in Terrigal is offered by terrigaltours.com.au/.

Paddle Boarding, Sport Fishing, Scuba Diving.
Summer will bring the opportunity to start a few new water sports, or at least try them. Bulwarra’s pool has been refurbished and repainted, but if you want the real thing, there are some excellent beach and ocean experiences available in and around Terrigal (e.g. learn to surf  or paddle board, dive on HMAS Adelaide or try deep sea fishing).

Special Events.
If you are planning a special celebration; a birthday celebration, that significant anniversary, a sporting team meet, a wedding, or a large family reunion, where a relaxed venue would work, consider Bulwarra. If you would like to book a number of units or even the entire facility the  Manager can offer special rates that are available for such events. Please do not hesitate to contact Kate ([email protected]) and discuss some affordable options that may be perfect for what you have in mind.

Save the date
